Obituary


John Henry Gonzalez, age 81, passed away on Tuesday, January 10th, 2023, after a long battle with cancer. John was born on December 18th, 1941, in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, to the late Henry Gonzalez and his beloved mother Julia (Colon) Gonzalez. “Johnny”moved to Brooklyn, NY in 1955, where he lived until moving to Queens. John had a charismatic personality and a great sense of humor. He enjoyed telling jokes, loved music and was a NY Mets fan. His smile could light up a room and he was loved by everyone that knew him.
John is predeceased by daughters Denise (2007) and Cynthia, Linda, and Debbie (1967)
John leaves his wife Muriel,
His daughters, Michele Gonzalez Rasmussen and Diane Gonzalez Mannino, their mother Geraldine Raia and son in law Tom Rasmussen.
“Papa” also leaves his beloved grandchildren Vito and Antonio Mannino, Kaitlyn, Kirsten, Thomas and Sierra Rasmussen, Juan Alvarez, and his wife Muriel’s grandchildren Adrian, Sabrina and Michael. He is also survived by his sister Henrietta (Sonia) Van Lit, nieces Suzette Van Lit and Stephanie DeAngelis as well as his great nieces, great nephews and cousins.
