Today, we said our final goodbye to our father.
Andreas Andrikopoulos, born in 1/1936 in Kiato, Greece. He emigrated to Canada in 1960, and later to the U.S. He married Eugenia Lyssicatos of Pera Melana, Greece, in 2/1965. Together they had two daughters, Panagiota and Eleni, and were also blessed with three beautiful grandchildren, Andriana, Jenny, and George.
Andreas was a kind, humble, gentle, respectful, and devout man, who loved his family, his Church, and his Orthodox faith. He had a quiet, enduring, almost unbelievable strength to him. This strength of character and faith helped him persevere through many adversities and difficulties in life. Everything he went through in life, he always had his family by his side, most particularly his wife who was a caregiver to him for many years, and to who we owe the utmost gratitude and respect.
Being a man of few words, not many in this world knew him the way his children did. We knew his heart and the love and kindness it contained. This love will stay with us always. He never broke any promise he made to us; in turn, to him, we promise to keep his memory alive forever. We will respect, cherish, and honor your memory always, and will love you forever. We will share with our children all the stories you shared with us through the years. He will always be with us…in the eyes of his children and grandchildren, in the trademark silent Andrikopoulos laugh that both daughters inherited, in the humor that his grandchildren inherited. We will always remember your life-sized smile that always lit up a room, no matter what.
May your memory be eternal, Papou.
