Francesco Campanella, 87, of Ridgewood, New York, passed away peacefully at home on June 30, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on December 31, 1938, in Pozzallo, Sicily, Italy, Francesco proudly served in the Italian Army before immigrating to the United States in 1966 with hope in his heart and a determination to build a better life for his future family. Through hard work, sacrifice, and perseverance, he built a life centered on faith, family, and the values that remained with him throughout his life.
In 1968, Francesco married Michelle Gallo, the love of his life. Together, they shared more than five decades of marriage until Michelle's passing in 2019. It was a touching coincidence that Francesco passed away on what would have been their 58th wedding anniversary.
Francesco was a proud member of Steamfitters Local 638, where he worked for many years before retiring in 2003. He was respected for his strong work ethic, humility, and dedication to providing for his family.
Though a quiet man by nature, Francesco possessed a warm sense of humor and a generous heart. He enjoyed making homemade wine with his sons, watching soccer, and spending time with his family. He was known throughout his neighborhood for his kindness, often treating local children to snacks from the neighborhood deli, leaving lasting memories for many who knew him.
Above all else, Francesco cherished his family. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and friend whose greatest joy came from the time he spent with those he loved.
Francesco is survived by his loving sons, Peter Campanella, Richard Campanella, and Anthony Campanella; his daughters-in-law, Cathy Campanella and Nicole Campanella; and his cherished grandchildren, Donato Campanella, Giancarlo Campanella, Ava Teresa Campanella, and Giana Mirelle Campanella.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Michelle Campanella.
Francesco's quiet strength, generosity, kindness, and unwavering love for his family will be remembered always. His legacy lives on through the family he built, the values he instilled, and the many lives he touched through simple acts of compassion and generosity.
May he rest in eternal peace.
