Harold Thomas Dwyer, 92, passed away on Feb. 5, 2021.
Born in a house on Bleecker Street in Ridgewood in 1928 to Harold Dwyer and Elizabeth Becht.
After a strong battle fighting Parkinson’s and heart disease he is now at peace.
Harold is survived by his wife, Theresa Dwyer; his son Thomas Dwyer and daughter-in-law Vita; his daughter Kathleen Hynes and grandchildren James and Theresa; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister, Ellen Senff and son-in-law Deacon James Hynes.
As a man of service, he lived an active life with 35+ years in both the NYPD and National Guard as a retired Command Sergeant Major and 7 years with US Customs.
In his 16 years on patrol with the police department he was proud to have delivered 7 babies. He loved his job and always said “It’s a wonderful feeling to save a life.”
Harold and Theresa were married at St. Brigid in 1951. As a proud and active member of his parish, he served as the Lay Trustee for over 40 years.
