It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved father, Herman
“Chicky” Acevedo, who left us on June 12th at the age of 81 at Wyckoff Heights Medical
Center.
Herman Acevedo, born in 1943 in San Sebastián, Puerto Rico to the parents of Josefina
Matos and Jose Wenceslao Acevedo, was the fifth child out of eight children:
Wenceslao, Pedro, Miriam, Gilberto, Noel, Anibal, and Diana Acevedo. As a longtime
resident of Brooklyn, NY, he will always be remembered for his passion of bicycling
through NYC neighborhoods, fishing, and his love for cooking. His dedication to
providing for his family was demonstrated by his hard work as a custodian for the NYC
Department of Health where he worked for 24 years. We commemorate his life and will
always recall him as a strong and hardworking family man who, by the grace of God,
lived a complete and fulfilling life.
He is survived by his family who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to
the fullest: Rose Acevedo (Wife), Yvette Acevedo (Daughter), Nicole Acevedo
(Daughter), Andrew Acevedo (Son), Brandon Acevedo (Grandson)
