Jorge DeJesus Jr., 78, passed away peacefully at home on February 22, 2023.
Jorge was born on November 30, 1944, to Jorge and Paula in Puerto Rico. After Jorge graduated from The High School of Art and Design, he went on to serve in the U.S. Army.
After his father's death, Jorge returned home to help run the family business where he photographed countless weddings. Jorge’s love of music led to the creation of an ensemble Salsa band known as the Orchestra Dee Jay.
Jorge was a humanitarian and spent time as a volunteer with the Peace Corps in Dominica. Upon his return, Jorge would spend most of his career with Met Life, where he made lifelong friends.
After retiring, Jorge spent his time playing music and teaching other musicians how to play the guitar. Jorge also loved spending time with family and friends. He was always invited to holiday events with guitar in hand for the impromptu concert.
Jorge was predeceased by his father Jorge, his mother Paula, and his brother Anibal. He is survived by his brother Julio, sisters Marsha and Yvonne, and several beloved nephews and nieces.
Services will be held at Seneca Chapels on Thursday, March 2, 2023, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. For the health and safety of all, please wear a mask if you choose to pay your respects.
