Salvo, Pietro of Manhattan Beach, Brooklyn formerly of Ridgewood, Queens passed away on June 2, 2026.
Born on November 12, 1944 in Mazara del Vallo, Sicily to Orazio and Angela Salvo, Pietro ventured to the United States in his twenties in search of an adequate life, which he more than accomplished. He began a 30+ career mixing macaroni for Julietta Macaroni Corp, later Paramount. He was skilled in his craft and loved working to feed others.
Pietro then went on to bring joy and smiles to all who knew him while working for The Westbrook. He had a passion for people, treating everyone he met there as if they were his family. He was happily employed there for 28 years before eventually retiring in December of 2024.
Pietro was a devoted partner to his love, Theresa Giacalone, until her passing in 2021. There is comfort in knowing they are reunited once again. He was a wonderful stepfather, brother, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather to many, and above all, a friend to all who were lucky enough to enter his path.
He will be remembered for many things but especially singing Che La Luna, watching horse racing and playing cards while drinking his espresso. Pietro went by many names; P, Zio or Nonno, no matter what you knew him as, he will be sorely missed.
Friends are invited to visit Saturday, June 6th from 3-8 pm at Seneca Chapels. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pietro's name to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org/donate/hope
