Rosa Maria Velez, 98, a resident of Cape Coral, FL for the past 22 years, formerly of Brooklyn, NY, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2025 in Cape Coral. She was born December 15, 1926 in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico to Salvador and Alejandrina Cardona, now deceased.
Rosa was of the Roman Catholic faith. She was blessed to live a long life. She enjoyed being a part of her children, grandchildren, and her great grandchildren’s accomplishments. It’s such a privilege as her family to have seen her own accomplishments and the love she had for her family. She lived life to the fullest with no one to hold her back. We never thought of the day she wouldn’t be here with us. We will cherish all of the memories she left us with and keep the spunky and spicy personality we inherited alive.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Hazel Cruz (Gilberto) and niece, Yvonne Figueroa of Cape Coral; predeceased by her son, Edgardo Antonio Velez; three loving sisters, Doris Cardona of NJ, Santa Arce of AZ, and Aida Arce of Cape Coral; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Rosa was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Antonio Velez in 2003.
