Sr. Rita Mary de St Raymond was called home by the Lord on Thursday September 21,
2023. She was born Jean Anna Jesionowska in Baltimore, MD, on March 6, 1935.
Sr. Rita Mary entered the Little Sisters of the Poor and made Profession on June 8, 1954, and
final Profession on October 15, 1958.
In her 69 years of Religious Life, she has served in our Homes in Nashville, New Orleans,
Louisville, Evansville, Richmond, Indianapolis, Mobile, Newark, Somerville, Enfield, and
Pawtucket. Over the past 31 years she has served in Queen of Peace with love and devotion
towards the sick and all those for whom she cared.
She shared generously her faith sustained by her great devotion to Divine Mercy and sought
every chance she could to evangelize and spread God’s love to others with a great sincerity
and charity towards them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Jesionowska and Lillian Grabowski, as well
as her sisters, Clara, Lillian, and Dorothy and her brother, Henry. Sr. Rita Mary is survived by
her sister, Theresa, her nephews, Fred (Jean), Michael (Nancy) and Jack (Jane), along with many
great nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours will be from 2 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday September 28, 2023, at Queen of Peace
Residence 110-30 221 st Street, Queens Village, NY, with recitation of the Rosary at 4:45p.m.
There will be visiting Hours prior to the 10:45a.m. Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated in
the Chapel at Queen of Peace Residence on Friday September 29, 2023. Committal will follow
at Holy Cross Cemetery in Brooklyn.
